Depression can present in many different circumstances and often is resistant to pharmacological intervention. Early life trauma, loss, and physiological deficiencies in dopamine and serotonin can all lead to depressive states. Through an EEG brain map we can identify how unique depressive profiles appear in the brainwaves. By altering the physiology of the depression, the psychology of the individual often follows suit.

A major depression profile is a frontal lobe alpha asymmetry. Research has found there is a correlation between an imbalance in the power (asymmetry) and negative mood. A supporting case study can be found here.
